Thinking of creating a stay-at-home mom capsule wardrobe? Struggling to find cute but simple stay-at-home mom outfit ideas? If you answered yes to any of these, then you’re in the right place.
Many SAHMs fall into the bad habit of wearing sweatpants and pajamas all day. I used to do that too. I always thought “why should I get dressed in the morning when I’m going to be home all day?”
The truth is that getting dressed from head to toe every day makes you feel good. We all know the saying “when you look good, you also feel good”. People who work outside the home get dressed every day, so why shouldn’t SAHMs do the same? We work hard too!
In this post, I’ll share some simple items you should add to your SAHM wardrobe. These outfits can be used as capsule wardrobes as well.

What is a capsule wardrobe and why is it important for stay-at-home moms?
According to whowhatwear, a capsule wardrobe is made up of a small amount of clothing that can be easily mixed and matched. These are clothes you already own and love to wear. They are your go-to every time you reach into your closet.
There are many benefits to creating a capsule wardrobe. You waste less money buying trendy things that will only be worn once. You won’t struggle with the usual “I don’t have anything to wear” feeling that we all get even though our closet is full of clothes.
You’ll easily be able to get dressed in the morning without going crazy searching through your closet. Because I created a capsule wardrobe years ago, I can get dressed in less than 5 mins in the morning.
Now that we know what a capsule wardrobe is, let’s talk about what should be in our capsule wardrobe for summer, spring and fall.

All the products I recommend are made in the USA. I love supporting small businesses because they are essential to the economy.
Tank tops
Tank tops are the perfect outfit to add to your capsule closet. They can be paired with almost any bottom. They also come in a range from very fancy to very basic styles.

Shorts
For my capsule wardrobe, I love using stretchy shorts because they’re comfortable. I prefer leggings shorts in simple colors like black, brown, gray, and soft pink. You can pair these shorts with almost any color shirt.

Blouse
For blouses, I love short-sleeves since it’s hot in the summer. I like to go with shirts that have a little more style, like the ones pictured below.

Dresses
Dresses are a must in your SAHM wardrobe. They are easy to style and quick to put on. You don’t have to worry about what to match them with because it’s all one piece.
I like to have at least 5 dresses in my closet in case I run out of clothes in my capsule wardrobe. I really love this spaghetti midi dress from LA Apparel. You can wear any blouse underneath to dress it up or wear it as-is to dress it down. This Maxi dress from LA Apparel is also perfect for staying home.
Two-piece loungewear sets
These are my favorite SAHM outfits because you don’t have to worry about pairing a top and bottom. It’s already done for you. If you get two-piece sets in earth tone colors, then you can easily mix and match them. I love the two-piece sets listed below.
SAHM capsule wardrobe for spring
Since it’s still a little cold in the spring, I would suggest outfits like long sleeves, sweaters, and jeans.
Jeans
A normal blue or black pair of jeans can go with any outfit. Buy jeans that have a little more stretch because you’ll be wearing them the whole day. I love my mom jeans because they’re very comfortable. Mom jeans don’t have to be ugly. These relaxed-fit jeans from LA Apparel are very comfortable and cute to wear.

Open front Cardigans
I have a few collections of open-front cardigans that I wear with most of my tops. All you have to do is switch cardigans and keep the same shirt. This will make it look like you’ve changed clothes. I use this trick when I want to wear the same shirt for more than one day. See the image below for an example.

Jeggings and leggings
If you are not a fan of wearing jeans just to stay home, you can opt for jeggings or leggings instead. I love jeggings because they give you the feeling that you’re wearing jeans without all the discomfort.
My go-to bottom for spring is mostly leggings. I have so many pairs of them in neutral colors. They pair well with all my tops and topper jackets to create a simple SAHM fashion.
Here are some of my favorite styles of leggings and Jeggings.
Conclusion
Creating a stay-at-home mom capsule wardrobe doesn’t have to be complicated. Use the items you already have in your closet to create your outfits. Create only casual outfits since you’ll be wearing them to stay home and run errands.
Make sure most of your outfits are neutral or earth-tone colors. This will make it easier for you to mix and match them.
